The Invalides, the tomb of Napoleon
In 1670, King Louis XIV decided to build the “Hôtel Royal des Invalides” for wounded homeless soldiers of its different wars.
One of the most prestigious monument in Paris, you will discover the tomb of Napoleon, St Louis church and collections of the army museum from the 13th century to World War II.
The large museum counts the Military history of France from the Middle Ages to 1945.
It has the third collection in the world of ancient weapons and armor.
World War II spaces inaugurated on June 18, 2000The Army Museum also has a rich iconographic collection, comprising paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, photographs, as well as a collection of printed works, manuscripts, periodicals, and private archives. It also houses a collection of archaeological artifacts and a collection of non-European ethnographic objects, whose origins extend beyond the French colonial empire and colonization.
